About Islamic Prayer Times

Muslims perform five obligatory prayers (Salah/Namaz) throughout the day at specific times. These times are determined by the position of the sun and vary by geographic location.

The Five Daily Prayers

Fajr (Dawn Prayer): Performed before sunrise, from dawn until just before the sun rises. The day begins with this prayer.
Dhuhr (Noon Prayer): Performed after the sun passes its zenith (highest point), when it begins to decline.
Asr (Afternoon Prayer): Performed in the late afternoon. The time varies based on the length of an object's shadow.
Maghrib (Sunset Prayer): Performed just after sunset, when the sun has completely disappeared below the horizon.
Isha (Night Prayer): Performed after twilight has disappeared and true darkness has set in.

Calculation Methods

Prayer times are calculated using astronomical formulas based on the sun's position. Different Islamic organizations use slightly different calculation methods (angles for Fajr and Isha) based on regional and scholarly traditions. This tool uses the Muslim World League method, which is widely accepted globally.

Importance of Timely Prayer

Praying at the correct times is a fundamental aspect of Islamic worship. The Quran states: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers at prescribed times" (Quran 4:103). This prayer times calculator helps you stay on schedule with your spiritual obligations.
